Enhanced license policies

This feature enhances license delegation capabilities. More details are available here.

User Story

As a Nova administrator, I want to automatically assign licenses to users based on what groups or Teams they are in to automate license management and assignment.

As an enterprise administrator, I want to automatically assign licenses based on AD attributes assigned to a user to control license assignment and delegation. This allows me to automate license management and assignment. For example, I want to automatically assign one set of licenses to users in the Sales department in Germany and a different set of licenses to users in the Finance department in Switzerland.

Nova containers

This feature enhances the capabilities around creating business units so that business managers can only see their business unit(s) in a single, large tenant. More details here.

User Story

As a large enterprise I need to allow the individuals in a business unit to view just the data that relates to their business unit – within a very large single tenant.

As an enterprise that consolidates many individual tenants into one large tenant to allow better sharing among the different part of the business, I need to segregate the data the individual business units can view and report on, as the consolidation removes the segregated view of the data that was available before the consolidation.

As a company in a heavily regulated industry or geography with strong privacy laws (e.g. PII in Germany) I have the need to be able to do reporting but with the ability to mask the user’s data to preserve their privacy.

There are many other areas where isolation of data for Nova users is useful. A few concrete examples are below:

  • I only want my level 1 support in Germany to see German based users.
  • I want my Business Unit manager to see data from all users in the business unit that she/he is in.
  • I want my license manager to only get access to licenses and O365 users but not Exchange, Team or SharePoint configuration data.
  • I want Business users to only see User data and not Exchange, SharePoint or other data.
  • I want the PII data of users in Germany, Austria and Switzerland to be masked for my users outside of those countries

Enforce Teams group naming convention

This feature allows administrators to define a prefix that is applied to the name of newly created groups and Teams. The prefix can be set separately for each organizational unit in the enterprise.

More details here.

User Story

As a Nova user, I want to set and enforce a Teams group naming convention for each DPC Teams delegation so that I can easily identify the association between groups and teams and the business units associated with them.
